Jap Officials Seek To Escape Raids
A Central News message from Shaokwan in Kwangtung Province states that foaring further Allied serial bombings and an Allied counter-attack; more people have fled from Japanese-cccupied Hong Kong and Kowloon. They included staff members of Japanese and bogus organisations who asked loave, and never returned,
Steamers leaving Hong Kong for Macao and Kwangchowwan are fully packed with passengers. Alarmed at the great rate of departures of the inhabitants, the Japanese have enforced strict restrictions on egress from Hong Kong. Gendarmes are posted at the wharves to question the passengers why they are leaving. Many who failed to give satisfactory answers and produce passes were arrested.
Restrictions On Fishing Boats
Restrictions are also placed on fishing boats sailing out of the harbour, as the Japanese have discovered that many people have secretly left by such boats.
